飼い主さんにTPLOをどう説明するのか？
前十字靱帯断裂（Cranial Cruciate Ligament Ruputure）は大型犬、小型犬の跛行（歩様の異常）の一般的な原因の一つとして考えられています。現在は日本でも本疾患の治療の主流はTPLOとなりました。
しかし、獣医師ですら、TPLOを理解、説明することは難しく、まして、飼い主さんに本術式を理解していただくことは極めて難しいと考えます。
論文ではTPLOについて以下のように記載されております。
「Tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) is one of the most common surgical techniques in use, which aims to neutralize the cranial tibial thrust, achieving a caudal displacement of the tibial plateau, levelling the slope up to get a perpendicular angle between the tibial plateau and the patellar tendon, without restoring the cranial cruciate ligament.」
TPLOの目的は前十字靱帯の再建をすることなく、脛骨高平部（脛骨高平部と膝蓋靱帯の間の、）の傾斜角による脛骨前方変位（スロープ）を中立化（安定化）することである。

the cranial tibial thrustは「膝崩れ」と翻訳してます（笑）
